Hina is known by many names; Māhina, Hineteiwaiwa, Rona Whakamautai, Hanwi, Sina, Hamaiakamalama, Ina, Hina-puku-i’a, Hina-‘opu-hala-ko’a to name a few.  She is goddess of the moon; stars and oceans, an essence of the divine female energy.  Loved by many iwi taketake of Te Moana nui a Kiwa, of Rehua, the waterways that carry her stories throughout the Indigenous world.  The strength and power in her stories serve as traditions that unite and ensure strong links amongst the people of Polynesia and beyond are never severed.
