Artist Statement:  Hina is known by many names; Māhina, Hineteiwaiwa, Rona whakamautai, Sina, Hamaiakamalama, Ina, Hina-puku-i’a, Hina-‘opu-hala-ko’a to name a few.  She is the goddess of the moon, stars, oceans and is an essence of the divine female engergy.  Loved by many iwi taketake of Te Moana nui a Kiwa of Rēhua, the waterways that carry her stories and the Indigenous world.  The strength and power in her stories serve as traditions that unite and ensure strong links amongst the people of Polynesia are never severed.
