Description

Handcarved nguru by Arumaki Pasene-Grennell

Style is a fusion of his Māori, Aitutaki, Niue, Tahitian whakapapa.

Dimensions:  9.5cm x 4cm

Materials:  red brick clay with black oxide finish, inlaid pāua

Brand

Arumaki Pasene-Grennell

Ngāti Maniapoto, Rarotonga, Niue, Tahiti

Arumaki creates taonga pūoro (traditional musical instruments) and decorative Māori & Pacific art from clay both traditional and contemporary using natural, traditional and modern materials. He is mostly self-taught in regard to making and playing taonga pūoro, drawing inspiration from past and present practitioners. Recently he had the privilege to be mentored by Jerome Kavanagh who teaches whakapapa (genealogy), pūrākau (traditional stories) and healing qualities.

His goal is to share taonga pūoro with as many people possible so that one day they will be enjoyed far and wide.
