Te Ihiroa Oranga Whenua

Te Ihiroa comes from a family of creative minds, working as a key designer for his family business, ‘Te Ihiroa Designs’. He further expanded his creative skills as a part of the first digital animation cohort at Māoriland, refining his illustration and digital art skills, and graduating from the M.A.T.C.H programme.

Over time, this naturally evolved into creating movement around his digital art through animation, adding an interactive element to his storytelling. Te Ao Māori is a common thread woven throughout his portfolio of work, drawing from his own personal experience to amplify key messages.

“As I listen to waiata Māori our kaumātua have provided us. I am reminded of the days carefully listening to the kōrero and mamae of colonisation the root cause of intergenerational trauma, which we stem from. We are warriors, master gatherers of Tangaroa, Papatūānuku and Tāne Mahuta. We are protectors, healers, navigators, teachers and storytellers for our pēpi and tamariki”
