One of a series of Atua Wāhine (Māori Goddesses) Māori anime style An ideal gift for children but suitable for people of all ages.
Artist Statement: Awhi’s print ‘Mana Moana’ was a contemporary goddess inspired by Mukukai, a significant taniwha/kaitiaki/guardian seen at sea in this region (lower North Island). Mukukai is celebrated and referenced regularly in the Ngāti Raukawa region, recognised as a tree stump with lots of barnacles and is also known to travel up large rivers. A sign of plentiful seafood soon after sighting. Mukukai appearing is a warning to respect traditional gathering practices.
