An iron axe-head fastened to carved timber or a whalebone handle is a weapon made for practical use and uniquely decorated. This was the prior use of a Toki or Pātītī by Māori warriors during the New Zealand Land Wars.
A hand forged tool steel adze head on carved Rata handle with a bronze wedge. Decorated with Pāua and Ebony inlay eyes. This Taonga is provided with a Neinei lined, Rimu fashioned box designed to home this taonga for safe keeping.
