Description: Painting – Native tree pigments on handmade Harakeke paper
Te Kore, the space before form, before the light of dawn. A space of potential and possibility before Te Ata Pūao.
Te Kore Te Rawea is a space of stillness before light, the deep quiet before the first glimmer of Te Ata Pūao appears.
Tohu: The circle / koru / spiral has always been present in my work and Te Kore is a place of healing Te Harete has been working with for many years. Te Ao Māori has some beautiful healing pathways and this space of Te Kore is one of them.
Te Harete loves that these works are 100% native. This has been a journey for her over the past five years – to create work that at any time can be returned to the earth. Working with our natives is a remembering of what was once here.
Reclaiming our reo through our trees – their beauty, healing for land and people and their colour!
Materials: Native tree coloured pigments – Harakeke flowers, Harakeke pods, Koromiko, Toatoa, handmade Harakeke paper
