Elijah Haki Revell specializes in Taonga Pūoro (Māori musical instruments), particularly through intricate whakairo (carving) and etching uku (clay). He uses various media, including wood, bone, clay, stone, fossilized wood, and Kauri gum. Elijah has exhibited throughout Aotearoa, participating in numerous art events, live sculpture demonstrations, and teaching art classes. More recently, he was a successful finalist in the 2025 Kiingi Tuheitia Portraiture Award. He shares his work and creative process on his Instagram page, @huawhenuagallery. The gallery offers an exclusive amount of Elijah’s Taonga Pūoro, given that the nature of his practice is becoming increasingly rare. Hand-carved, wooden or pit-fired uku. Each instrument is distinct in its patterning, shape, tonal quality, and color, reflecting its inherent 'taonga' (treasured) status. These instruments are recognized for their robust, resonant sound, often garnering interest from those musically inclined. Each is created as an exceptionally bespoke piece appealing to those seeking truly unique creations. He acknowledges that his skills are but a ripple from waves of generational practice, acknowledging his ancestors and aiming to pave the way for future artists-
