Working in the medium allows me to co-create with her in many facets of texture, colour and surfaces. To be more gentle, intricate and more present as if she is molding herself intuitively through Huhenia.

Huhenia Paurini is a Toi Iho-registered, multidisciplinary artist and sculptor. Whakapapa, whenua and wairua are essential pillars in her craft as she draws inspiration from the natural elements and spirituality. Her calling is to express these elements through intricate patterns, swirling lines and organic shapes. Sacred geometry is the central theme of her ink drawings, used as a building block to draw repeating motifs of kōwhaiwhai through an expansive and cosmic lens.
