Raven’s custom designed record art is inspired by a process of cutting out layered stencils. He puts his own touch on them by adding from his graffiti based background trying to make his art raw and eye catching.
‘Taniwhā & Ārai Taniwhā’ – these designs have lots of sharp lines and curvy flows that connect to the basket weaving traditions of the Navajo people from the American Indigenous.
Each record is art closely connected to the ancestors that began with a single paint stroke, is where he started. That paint stroke comes from the soul and taking Raven across the canvas in the way it wants to go. From there he adds to it with his graf style trying to accentuate the single paint line with highlights and texture to bring it to life.
Materials: Custom paint pen, acrylic, upcycled records
