Hinewaka Hokianga

Like many Māori, Hinewaka (Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Porou), grew up loving and appreciating everything about the ocean and its creatures. However she has always loved Pāua the most.
The shells are mesmerizing and the meat has been a delicious source of kai to Māori for many centuries.
As she becomes more comfortable working with Pāua, her Maori heritage also grows.

Hinewaka loves the natural beauty of Pāua. It both amazes and inspires her that something this beautiful grows in our moana. In her eyes, the beauty of Pāua is unmatched by any other shells or stone on earth. Nothing compares to the iridescent color combinations of Pāua and Hinewaka hopes to share this special beauty in her own unique way with the world.
