Description: Māori Language Learning Book
First published in 2012 by Te Tākupu, Te Wānanga o Raukawa the team at Te Tākupu has announced a discount promotion that coincides with the ebook and audiobook for Mai i te Kākano and the 10 year anniversary of its release. Now retailing at the reduced price of NZD$50.
This book aims to help Māori language speakers and learners sustain more animated, in-depth conversations in Māori. It gives examples of alternative and fun ways to say things in everyday situations. Included are sections on Māori idiom and metaphor, common errors, useful phrases and examples of language in use in a variety of settings, including the home, at the supermarket, at the beach and on the sports field. This book is in entirely in te reo Māori (with a few key words translated as footnotes).
At the time of the rising and setting of Matariki, where Matariki, the mother, and her six daughters support their kuia Papatūānuku to get ready for the new year, it is a good time to be reflective and prepare ourselves for the tasks at hand and the year ahead. For those of us who have been disconnected from our reo, and for those of us who want to help revive te reo Māori, Mai i Te Kākano is an ideal read for this time of reflection and preparation. It will allow the seed of Te Reo planted within us to flourish over the new year.
